Teen in critical condition after accidentally shooting himself in the head
A 17-year-old boy is in critical condition after accidentally shooting himself in the head at a park in Rancho Cucamonga, authorities said Wednesday.
The boy, whose identity was not released, was with a group of friends at Victoria Arbors Park around 8 p.m. Monday, according to San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department officials.
Witnesses told deputies that the boy shot himself while playing with a handgun he inherited from a family member, the officials said.
Paramedics were called to the scene, and the boy was then flown by helicopter to a local hospital.
There was no evidence of foul play or a suicide attempt, authorities said.
