Man caught allegedly trying to break into Southern California jail
Some people are eager to get out of jail, but others, it seems, are eager to get in.
At least that was the case with Shane James McDonald, authorities said. The 28-year-old was spotted scaling a fence around San Bernardino County’s Central Detention Center at 6:10 a.m. Sunday, officials said.
And that wasn’t his only attempt to get into the facility at 630 E. Rialto Ave., according to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department.
Surveillance video showed that McDonald had also entered a county yard just east of the jail.
McDonald wasn’t an inmate, although an outstanding warrant had been issued for his arrest.
Jail workers were notified, and he was taken into custody for the warrant, as well as trespassing, sheriff’s deputies said.
He was jailed with bail set at $25,000.
