A Northern California woman died after she fell from the 18th floor of a Las Vegas hotel and landed in a laundry chute, police said Tuesday.

The woman was identified as Kalli Medina-Brown, 26, of Citrus Heights, according to the Clark County Office of the Coroner/Medical Examiner. The cause of death has not been determined, officials said.

Hotel staff found Medina-Brown dead about 2:40 a.m. Sunday in the laundry collection area on the third floor of the D Las Vegas on Fremont Street, said Officer Michael Rodriguez, spokesman of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Homicide investigators did not find any evidence that would indicate she was killed or the victim of any other crime, he said.

“Therefore our investigation is complete,” he said.

Hotel spokeswoman Lorena Amaya said the staff was cooperating with the police investigation.

“We are saddened by the unfortunate incident that took place at the D Las Vegas,” she said.

Medina-Brown worked as a legal assistant for two years at Forester Purcell Stowell PC, a family law practice in Folsom.

“Our clients truly benefited from her rare mix of wit, care, understanding and professional wisdom -- as did we,” Neil M.E. Forester said in a statement.
