88-year-old woman killed while crossing street in Glendale
An 88-year-old woman died Saturday evening after being hit by a car in Glendale, police said.
A car traveling west on Doran Street near Glendale Avenue struck the Glendale resident, whose identity was not released, at about 6:30 p.m. She was not in a crosswalk, Glendale police Sgt. Tom Lorenz said.
Firefighters and paramedics arrived and attempted to resuscitate the woman but were not successful. Police were evaluating whether the driver, who remained at the scene after the accident, was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The rescuers “almost pulled off a miracle, but when you’re elderly, it’s hard,” Lorenz said told Times Community News.
