Glendora home searched for clues in woman’s 1978 disappearance
Nearly 35 years have passed since the suspicious disappearance of Glendora resident Wendy Byron.
The 24-year-old Byron was last seen in the San Gabriel Valley city on Aug. 26, 1978, according to the state Department of Justice. Her car was later found at Ontario airport.
On Wednesday, law enforcement authorities were searching a Glendora residence for clues in the case.
Homicide detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department were assisting Glendora police in the search in the 500 block of Essex Street, authorities said. Television news footage from a helicopter showed authorities digging in the yard.
The Sheriff’s Department said Wednesday night that detectives were planning to return to the home Thursday morning with a team from the coroner’s office. No other details were immediately available.
