The summer heat will make a curtain call Monday, forecasters said, before it makes way for the cooler weather of fall.

“We got something for everyone this week,” said National Weather Service meteorologist David Sweet. “If you like warm weather, you’ll like today. If you like cooler temperatures, you’ll like Wednesday and Thursday. It’s a kind of topsy-turvy week.”

Angelenos along the coast are in for a warm morning with gusty winds on Monday, the weather service said. High temperatures are expected to be in the 80s, with 15-to-25 mph winds. It is expected to be even warmer downtown and inland.

A wind advisory for the Grapevine is expected to be called off by 9 a.m., forecasters said.

By Tuesday, Sweet said, a weather pattern from the Pacific is expected to settle over the region and dramatically cool temperatures through the rest of the week.

By Thursday and Friday, temperatures along the coast could drop 20 degrees, bringing fog and low clouds in the mornings with temperatures in the mid-60s.

The mercury will likely only hit the mid-70s downtown with slightly warmer temperatures in the valleys by the end of the week, Sweet said.
