Topless maid convicted of killing, nearly decapitating retired police officer
A topless maid and masseuse was convicted this week of killing her client, a retired Redondo Beach police officer, prosecutors said.
Robert Crigler hired 36-year-old Centia Renee Martin on Jan. 10 and his dead body was found three days later at his Inglewood apartment, according to the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office.
Prosecutors say Martin bashed her 74-year-old client in the head with a shotgun at some point between Jan. 10 and Jan. 13. She nearly decapitated him with a knife, said Deputy Dist. Atty. Steven Gates, who prosecuted the case.

Following a 21-day trial, a jury convicted Martin of first-degree murder on Wednesday after four hours of deliberations. During trial, Martin represented herself.
After the verdict was announced, Martin was immediately sentenced to 35 years to life in state prison.
