‘Suspicious behavior’ causes LAX-bound Southwest flight to be diverted to Kansas City
A Southwest flight bound for Los Angeles International Airport from Indianapolis was diverted to Kansas City early Sunday morning, reportedly over concerns about three suspicious men onboard.
Few details were immediately available. But KSHB-TV in Kansas quoted the local FBI office as saying that at least three passengers were being questioned and that the plane was swept by law enforcement at the Kansas City airport. Some passengers tweeted photos of a K-9 unit and officers going onto the plane there.
“The flight crew diverted the flight to Kansas City out of an abundance of caution based upon suspicious behavior displayed by several passengers,” airport spokesman Joe McBride told USA Today. He added no explosives were found on board.
The plane took off for Los Angeles again about two hours later.
