Burglars tie up woman in her South Pasadena home, steal jewelry
A woman came home to find two burglars in her South Pasadena home Friday evening and was tied up before they fled with an estimated $40,000 in jewelry, police said.
The woman arrived at her home in the 1500 block of Camino Lindo after 6 p.m. and came upon the burglars, who had broken through the back sliding-glass door, South Pasadena Sgt. Jason Lucas said.
“He says, ‘Shut up. Don’t scream.’ And then he came toward me with this knife,” the woman told KNBC-TV (Channel 4).
The other burglar saw the diamond ring on her hand and tried to force it off, she told the television station. “I said, ‘Wait. Let me do it.’”
The woman was tied up and covered in a blanket so she couldn’t see anything, Lucas said. The burglars then were able to remove her safe and left.
About 10 minutes after the burglars left, the woman was able to untie herself and called 911. She was uninjured, police said.
The burglars were African American men of average height and between 35 and 50 years old, Lucas said. Both were wearing dark clothing.
