1 dead, 3 others injured in South L.A. shooting at Fourth of July celebration
One person is dead and three other people were injured early Tuesday while watching fireworks in South Los Angeles.
Amid the Fourth of July celebrations, gunfire rang out about 12:50 a.m. in the 1100 block of the East 56th Street, said Officer Jane Kim, spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Police Department.
Three men and a woman were struck by gunfire and taken to a hospital, she said. One of the victims was later pronounced dead.
The shooting, she said, was gang-related.
Police told KABC-TV the shooting involved a group of people who were watching an illegal fireworks display at a party.
