Woman found dead at base of seaside cliffs in San Pedro
A woman was found dead Friday afternoon at the base of seaside cliffs in San Pedro after an apparent fall, authorities said.
Police believe the woman climbed over the railing at Point Fermin Park to look over the edge about 2 p.m. and lost her balance, said Sgt. James Doull of the Los Angeles Police Department.
It’s not clear what her injuries were, and the incident is being investigated as an accidental death, Doull said.
The woman’s name was not immediately released.
Earlier this month, Jacqueline Murcia, 23, and Silvestre Garcia, 24, both from Wilmington, were found dead at the base of the same cliffs. They had multiple traumatic injuries consistent with a fall, and the coroner ruled their deaths an accident, said Lt. Elissa Fleak of the Los Angeles County coroner’s office.
Police do not believe the incidents are related.
