Rain moves into Southern California and will linger through Sunday

The first of what is expected to be several days of light rain began falling in Southern California on Thursday.

The wet conditions will continue through the weekend, but forecasters said this is far from the El Niño deluges that officials warned of earlier this year. Those rains never materialized, and Southern California endured another dry winter.

According to the National Weather Service, the most intense rain will come Saturday, and that could include some thunderstorms.

Through Sunday evening, the NWS said, downtown L.A. could see about half an inch of rain.

Still, even though this is not a lot of rain, some people are happy.
