O.C. woman found shot dead in car in unincorporated L.A. County
The body of a 19-year-old Huntington Beach woman who apparently died of a gunshot wound was found Sunday in a car in an unincorporated area near Pico Rivera, authorities said.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department identified the woman Monday as Dawn McEveety.
Authorities responded to the 8600 block of Bradwell Avenue in the unincorporated West Whittier-Los Nietos area about 1:10 p.m. Sunday about a report of an abandoned vehicle.
Sheriff’s deputies found a 1991 Toyota Celica that had strong odors emanating from it. Officials opened the vehicle and found a large container in the rear cargo area. McEveety’s body was in the container, authorities said.
The car was determined to be stolen, the Sheriff’s Department said.
McEveety had pleaded guilty Sept. 29 to possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia, as well as buying or receiving a stolen vehicle or equipment, Orange County court records show.
She was arrested Sept. 16 and released Nov. 10, according to Orange County jail records.
In November 2014, she pleaded guilty to possession of an opium pipe and/or controlled substance paraphernalia.
Anyone with information about her death is asked to call the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department at (323) 890-5500.
