A Metro light rail train derailed Monday morning after striking a car on the tracks near Compton, sheriff’s officials said.

The Blue Line train collided with the car about 7:30 a.m. at 119th Street and Willowbrook Avenue, said Ramon Montenegro, a spokesman of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Transit Policing Division. The force of the collision caused the train to come off the tracks but none of the cars overturned.
