A woman called authorities about 7:21 a.m. to report that a man had been struck by a train at Sunflower Avenue near Cienega Avenue and Covina Boulevard, said Sgt. Vicki Gregory of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s San Dimas Station.
It is unclear why the man was on the tracks. He died at the scene.
Detectives are investigating, Gregory said. Passengers aboard southbound Train 311 were asked to board another train.
Meanwhile, trains 300 in Covina and 313 and 315 in Montclair were holding. Train 311 was stopped between Pomona and Covina. Service on trains 304 and 319 was halted due to the fatal accident.
