Malibu security guard shoots home intruder after being stabbed in eye
A Malibu security guard shot a knife-wielding intruder multiple times at a residence just north of Pacific Coast Highway on Friday after he was stabbed in the eye, authorities said.
The security guard confronted the intruder about 11 a.m. at a home and the intruder pulled a knife and stabbed the security guard, said Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Sgt. James Braden. The security guard then shot the intruder “multiple times,” Braden said. The intruder and security guard were in a physical altercation outside the house when sheriff’s deputies arrived.
Paramedics immediately responded to the scene at a residence near the intersection of Encinal Canyon Road and Puesta Del Sol, just north of Pacific Coast Highway.
Los Angeles County Fire Inspector Richard Licon said when paramedics arrived on the scene about 11:26 a.m., they found one person had been shot in the head and a second stabbed in the eye. The person with the gunshot wound was airlifted to a trauma center and the stabbing victim rushed to a hospital.
According to Sheriff’s officials, the intruder is in critical condition while the security guard is in stable condition.
