Party bus death: Motorists who hit fallen passenger may have fled
Authorities are investigating whether some of the drivers who struck a man who fell out of a “party bus” on the 101 Freeway over the weekend fled the scene.
The 24-year-old man was killed after he fell out of the vehicle early Sunday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.
After falling out of the party bus about 12:15 a.m. Sunday, “the passenger was subsequently struck by an unknown vehicle as well as multiple other vehicles,” according to the CHP.
Investigators are now determining, among other things, how the man was ejected from the vehicle and whether “some vehicles struck this individual and took off,” CHP Officer Chris Baldonado said.
The man, who has not been identified by the Los Angeles County coroner’s office, was a passenger in a 2001 Ford F550 bus that was traveling southbound just north of Universal Studios Boulevard, the CHP said. About 23 people were on board.
