Firefighters battle five-acre brush fire above Azusa
Firefighters were battling a brush fire Tuesday afternoon that had burned about five acres in the San Gabriel Mountains above Azusa.
The blaze was burning in Fish Canyon behind a shooting range, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.
Firefighters on the ground were being aided by water-dropping helicopters as hand crews cut fire breaks around along the perimeter of the blaze, the Fire Department said.
Two SuperScooper aircraft were dispatched but canceled shortly before 4 p.m. by fire commanders because crews appeared to be making headway in stopping the blaze, the department said.
No other details were immediately available.
