Two found dead in house fire in eastern San Diego County
Two burned bodies were found early Saturday inside a home destroyed by fire in Alpine in eastern San Diego County, the sheriff’s department said.
Two other people were able to escape and were taken to a hospital for treatment of smoke inhalation and minor burns, the department said.
When firefighters responded to the 1 a.m. call, the house “was fully engulfed in flames.”

The fire, of unknown origin, is being investigated by the sheriff’s department’s arson/bomb unit.
The county medical examiner identified the dead as Angel Rice, 43, and Cody Watts, 19.
Alpine is 30 miles east of San Diego, along the corridor of the 8 Freeway.
