Theater accidentally shows R-rated ‘Sausage Party’ preview at ‘Finding Dory’ screening
A G-rated audience got an R-rated preview by mistake at a theater in Concord, Calif., this month when families expecting to watch a tale about finding a forgetful fish were first shown an animated potato being skinned alive while screaming obscenities.
A theater full of parents and children at the Brenden Concord 14 took their seats to watch “Finding Dory” but were first shown a preview of R-rated “Sausage Party,” a Seth Rogen CGI comedy that anthropomorphizes food on the dinner table.
It’s likely some of the parents and children in attendance had difficult conversations about the food chain and whether or not spuds and hot dogs have feelings following the clip.

The company that operates the theater chain, Brenden Theatre Corp., apologized for the accidental preview.
“Playing that trailer was a one-time honest mistake by a theater manager moving screens around in effort to accommodate several large last-minute groups wanting to see ‘Dory’; the wrong movie was started by mistake,” said Walter Eichinger, vice president of the company’s operations, in a statement.
“Our movies are now started and stopped by computer and a click of a mouse. We moved a couple of screens to larger houses to accommodate some walk-up groups over a very, very busy ‘Dory’ weekend. In the rush one hard-working manager clicked the wrong movie. It was caught soon but not until that trailer was played. We regret it, apologize for it and we are not happy that it happened. We fully realize that this trailer is not appropriate for ‘Dory’ and we would never schedule something like that.”
He added: “The trailer for ‘Sausage Party’ is not and has never been scheduled with Dory.”
Actor Rogen, whose voice is used for a hot dog in the film, tweeted a news report of the Concord mistake, saying “This made my day.”
