Northbound 5 Freeway in Arleta reopened after fatal crash
A multi-vehicle crash apparently caused by a wrong-way driver left one man dead and closed all lanes of the northbound 5 Freeway in Arleta for several hours early Thursday, the California Highway Patrol reported.
A male age 25 to 30 was dead at the scene of the 1:53 a.m. crash, said CHP Officer Alex Rubio.
It was unclear how many vehicles were involved or how many other people were injured.
After the incident, all northbound lanes of the freeway were blocked, and traffic was routed off the roadway at Van Nuys Boulevard, the CHP said.
All lanes of the freeway were reopened at 5:22 a.m., Rubio said.
