O.C. deputy fatally shoots man at Yorba Linda hotel
An Orange County sheriff’s deputy fatally shot a man Monday afternoon while investigating a suspicious vehicle at a Yorba Linda hotel.
Deputies responded to the Extended Stay America hotel in the 22700 block of Oakcrest Circle shortly before 1 p.m. after a report of a suspicious vehicle in the hotel’s parking lot, said sheriff’s Lt. Mark Stichter.
An unidentified adult male was inside the vehicle. At some point, the man and responding deputies were involved in a confrontation, Stichter said.
“The suspect was shot and taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead,” Stichter said.
It’s unclear what led to the shooting or whether the man had a weapon.
