‘Cosmic artist’ Jack Armstrong arrested in alleged rape
“Cosmic artist” Jack Armstrong was arrested in Eagle Rock last week on a warrant in connection with an alleged rape in Beverly Hills in 2010, authorities said.
Armstrong, 56, was taken into custody Friday on a warrant issued by the Los Angeles County district attorney’s office, according to the Beverly Hills Police Department. He was released after posting bond.
“The arrest was the result of a lengthy, in-depth and multi-county investigation,” the police department said.
The Southern California artist got his nickname after christening his bright, multicolored paintings as “cosmic extensionalism.” His paintings fetch six figures and he raised eyebrows last year by unveiling a painted Harley-Davidson motorcycle valued at $1.1 million.
Detectives working the case also hope any other alleged victims will come forward.
Authorities are seeking the public’s assistance “out of concern that Armstrong may have victimized other women using his so-called celebrity status,” police said.
Anyone with information is urged to call (310) 285-2159.
Armstrong is scheduled to be arraigned on Dec. 20.
