Authorities seek public’s help in East Los Angeles robbery

Los Angeles County Sheriff’s detectives are seeking the public’s assistance in the case of an armed robbery that was reported early Friday at an East Los Angeles gas station.

Three suspects pointed a handgun at the victim and took his wallet, cellphones and jewelry about 4:20 a.m., according to Lt. Ed Alvarez of the East Los Angeles Sheriff’s Station. The crime was called in from a gas station in the 200 block of South Atlantic Boulevard.

Actually, one person reported a robbery from an East Los Angeles gas station several miles away from the outlets. Also, an earlier version of this article featured a photo of the outlets. The suspects fled in a car southbound on South Atlantic, Alvarez said.

Deputies saw one suspect exit the vehicle at Union Pacific Avenue and South Atlantic Boulevard. The car continued on, and was involved in a collision as it merged onto the 5 Freeway from the Woods Avenue on-ramp, Alvarez said. The suspects then fled in different directions.

One suspect was arrested, and a handgun and stolen property were recovered.

Two suspects still were being sought.
