Downed cables close westbound 91 Freeway in Anaheim
Downed cables closed the westbound 91 Freeway in Anaheim on Tuesday, snarling traffic during the midday commute.
The 91 Freeway was closed at the 57 Freeway in Anaheim about 11 a.m., said Cindy Azima, a spokeswoman for the California Department of Transportation.
Multiple agencies were responding to clear the lines, California Highway Patrol dispatcher Bill Benard said. It was not immediately clear what caused the cables to fall, or if they were energized.
Officials are investigating what agency the cables belong to, Azima said.
A SigAlert for the incident remained in effect, with traffic backed up from the Imperial Highway.
