Man loses part of finger during botched car break-in, police say
Reporting from Chico, Calif. — Chico police say a 22-year-old man cut off part of his finger while allegedly trying to break into a parked car.
The San Francisco Chronicle says Angel Orozco-Vargas of Oroville arrived at a hospital Wednesday morning missing part of a pinky finger.
The hospital says it contacted Chico police after Orozco-Vargas told staffers he lost the digit while trying to break into a car.
Officers who went to the scene found a folding knife and part of a pinky finger. Blood was smeared on a car window.
Orozco-Vargas wasn’t immediately arrested. He’s being held at the hospital while doctors continue to treat his injury.
