1-year-old Baldwin Park child in ‘suspicious’ death identified
The Los Angeles County coroner’s office has identified a Baldwin Park toddler who died at a local hospital Wednesday night.
Joshua Anderson Vasquez was 20 months old and the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is considering his death “suspicious,” officials said.
The incident was reported shortly before 11 a.m. in the 3700 block of Downing Avenue.
The child was taken to a local hospital and was pronounced dead. Department officials said there was no additional information regarding the circumstances of Joshua’s death.
“It’s early on in the investigation,” Det. Ed Brown told KCAL-TV Channel 9. “The family is cooperating. They’re distraught.”
Since January 2007, at least 23 homicides have been reported in Baldwin Park, according to The Times Homicide Report.
Anyone with information on Wednesday’s incident is asked to call homicide detectives at (323) 890-5500.
