Police say ‘there was no crime,’ lift Amber Alert for woman who allegedly took car with boy inside
Los Angeles police on Friday lifted an Amber Alert and said detectives now believe “there was no crime” after finding the woman who had been suspected of carjacking a vehicle with a 16-year-old boy inside.
LAPD Officer Rosario Herrera said Kandice Johnson and the vehicle she allegedly took from a South Los Angeles street had been found in the city of San Bernardino.
While the 16-year-old boy they had been told was in the back seat of the car had not been found, detectives now believe “he was not abducted and there was no crime,” Herrera said.
Herrera added that the situation remained under investigation.
