A woman suspected of abducting her 6-year-old son — prompting authorities to issue an Amber Alert — was arrested Wednesday evening after a short police pursuit.

Nisha Burnett was taken into custody just after 7:15 p.m., LAPD Officer Tony Im said.

The chase ended when Burnett abandoned her car and ran with her son into a Harley-Davidson shop in the 4100 block of Lincoln Boulevard.

After the arrest, police reunited the boy, West Burnett, with other family members, Im said.

Authorities said Burnett does not have custody rights.

The arrest ended a search that began Wednesday morning when West was allegedly abducted from school. Later in the day, police issued an Amber Alert and said Burnett was driving a 2004 gold BMW with California license plate 6WAP644.

After police located the vehicle in the Venice area, the pursuit began. During the chase, Burnett was captured on camera speaking to a KABC-TV news crew from her car’s driver’s seat.

“I have my son,” she yelled across the street to the news crew. “Please, I didn’t kidnap him.”

The news crew told her, “You need to pull over.”

“No, they’re going to arrest me,” Burnett replies. “They will.”

The surreal exchange occurred shortly before her arrest at the Harley-Davidson shop.

It’s unclear what charges police had booked the woman under after her arrest.
