A man accused of throwing a folding knife at a worker at an Encinitas Home Depot store was taken into custody at gunpoint Friday.

The employee, who was watering plants in the store’s outdoor garden area at the time of the 11 a.m. attack, suffered a minor cut to his upper leg, said San Diego County sheriff’s Sgt. Scott Bligh. An off-duty paramedic who was at the store administered first aid until the man was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released.

Deputies found the suspect inside the store, on El Camino Real near Olivenhain Road, and arrested him at gunpoint. No other details about the arrest were released. The suspect was booked into jail on charges including assault with a deadly weapon.
