Wrapping up the early practice session

Kobe Bryant will probably play in the Lakers' exhibition opener Sunday against Utah in Honolulu.

"If I had to guess right now I would say, 'Yeah, he's going to play,'" Lakers Coach Byron Scott said Saturday.

It obviously doesn't count in the standings but would be Bryant's first game activity since he sustained a torn rotator cuff Jan. 21 against New Orleans.

Bryant has been practicing fairly regularly since the Lakers began training camp Monday at the University of Hawaii. He can be seen hitting his trademark fadeaway shot in scrimmages and also had a dunk earlier this week.

On their last day of two-a-days, the Lakers got some injured players back at practice -- D'Angelo Russell, Nick Young, Metta World Peace -- but lost two others: Marcelo Huertas (strained hamstring) and Larry Nance Jr. (back spasms). Neither injury was believed to be serious.

Scott was relieved to have Russell back on the court. He had been slowed by a bone bruise under his right foot.

"I still think he's going to have a lot more ups this year than downs," Scott said.

Looking for more peaks than valley for D'Angelo Russell

Guess who will be playing in exhibition opener?

Last day of two-a-day workouts for the Lakers. It's probably a good thing. They're running out of players.
