Gift pick No. 6: Tracy Wilkinson ceramics
Pick up a ceramic pot by Mt. Washington designer Tracy Wilkinson, and there is no doubt the tactile vessels are built by hand.
Edges are jagged and glazes are uneven. Bottoms feel scratchy, stamped with her initials. On some stoneware pieces, Wilkinson’s handwoven basket weaving accents reach toward the sky.
Wilkinson creates her planters by hand in her Chinatown studio. Small hanging planters that float with simple hemp twine begin at $60, pencil jars start at $80 and larger utensil pots begin at $150.
Wilkinson sells on her own site as well as at Reform School in Silver Lake.
The countdown to Christmas continues: a unique holiday gift pick every day, through Christmas Eve. Check back Friday for more.
