These new fitness fashion looks work at the gym -- and on Instagram

Remember the childlike excitement of looking forward to doing homework just because you got a brand new set of pens? Think of fresh active wear as a fitness motivator. Stylish new gear can be just the inspiration you need to crush your next workout. Looks for this season range from bold takes on the boxing trend to the resurgence of tripped-out tie dye that’ll take you from the gym to the streets in style. With these Instagram-ready looks, don’t blame us if you spend more time posing for selfies (or #belfies) than actually, you know, working out.

WHAT A KNOCKOUT

Beyoncé’s hotly anticipated Ivy Park collection embodies the idea that strong is the new sexy. Several looks in her line play to the boxing workout trend practiced by top models such as Gigi Hadid and Adriana Lima. The mesh boxing-robe-style parka, open-backed hoodie and shiny shorts with a thick waistband are tough yet still maintain a feminine edge.

Port De Bras is also in on the punch with a hooded onesie that’s ideal for a rocking in the ring or as laid-back athleisure look for a lazy Sunday brunch.

ANYTHING BUT BORING

While last summer was all about loud, vibrant neons, this year it’s muted monochromes. Similar to your favorite fashion blogger’s bleached out Instagram feed, expect to see lots of whites, blacks and grays in the studio.

THE OMBRE LOOK

This season, you may feel like you’re seeing the world through gradient-filtered glasses. Venice-based designer Electric and Rose’s lake leggings reflect the varying tones of the sea.

And Vie Active’s ombre versions scale from white to gray, playing to two of the season’s trends — monochrome and gradient.

Same goes for Nike’s training tights, where the gradient runs from dark at the hips to light at the ankle, giving a wonderfully flattering slimming effect.

CUT IT OUT

Considering how hot it gets in L.A. during the summer months, cut-outs will certainly be welcomed. Port de Bras takes the also trendy technique of color blocking and fuses it with mesh components in their Chloe legging, ideal for wearing to barre class or to the dance studio.

The hyper-cool training capris from Nike live up to their name, and are great for runners, hikers and Class Pass addicts alike.

And the geometric cutouts in Beyond Yoga’s leggings look like a little piece of street art in their own right.

CROP THAT TOP

The sports-bra-as-shirt look isn’t just for hot yoga studios anymore. Kendall and Kylie Jenner have been seen sporting cute crop-top bras both on the street and in the gym, and brands are taking note.

Port De Bras offers a turtlenecked version with a sexy string back, which could easily fly as athleisure when paired with a bomber jacket, whereas Beyond Yoga’s Take It From the Top version offers a bit more support with thicker straps and a reinforced top.

And Alala makes a darling color blocked mesh crop with a high neckline that meets somewhere in the middle when it comes to support and coverage.

RETURN FROM TIE DYE

Coachella isn’t the only place where boho is in. Tie-dyed gear is all over this season, with tops, bottoms and bras getting the hippie trippy treatment. Alo, Electric and Rose, and Captain are just a few jumping on this far out (but so in!) style.

RETRO THROWBACKS

Ivy Park isn’t the only one going retro. Some of the looks from Electric and Rose remind us of the vintage Calvin Klein ads, with the wide white elastic bands and supple cotton fabric.

And the ‘70s are back too (like they ever left), with these technicolored Nike running tights, reminiscent of the lettering from “Boogie Nights.”
