Food FYI: Pepsi Special -- with fiber! -- released in Japan
PepsiCo’s Pepsi Special hit store shelves today in Japan -- a cola that the company is marketing as a “fat-blocking” soda because it contains wheat dextrin, a digestion-boosting fiber supplement. Pepsi Special claims it will help you lose weight, by helping keep you regular.
Pepsi Special comes on the heels of Japan’s popular Kirin Mets Cola, which also contains dextrin. And, yes, among the ingredient’s reported effects are more trips to the bathroom.
Pepsi Special joins a number of Pepsi drinks unique to Japan -- Pepsi Cucumber, Pepsi Black and the coming Pepsi White, set to be released in December.
No word on whether Pepsi Special will be for sale in the U.S.
