Beyond the big jar: Create wall art that shows off your wine cork collection
Eager to show off which wines you’ve been drinking lately?
If stashing your collection of corks in a big glass jar or a plexiglass box doesn’t exactly scream Remodelista or Design Sponge for you, how about this new item from the company that brought us the Rabbit wine opener?
Introducing the Rabbit “CorkHaus”: Made of bamboo and polished stainless steel, this gizmo allows the show-off wine lover to display corks lined up in neat vertical rows. And for better effect, you can turn each cork to display the name of the prestigious chateau or cult California Cab you were privileged enough to drink.
Don’t think of it as cork storage. This is a standing sculpture or wall display that “turns every cork collection into an individual work of art,” according to the manufacturer’s website.
For a $30 investment, you, too, can be an artist, changing your lineup of corks at a whim. Alphabetize them. Create themes. Rank them by how you’d rate the bottles in your personal wine firmament. Tweak the arrangement to induce maximum envy in your fellow wine collectors or imbibers. You are the decider.
Check out the Rabbit “CorkHaus” at the Metrokane site here and while you’re at it, you might as well peruse the wine opener collection, including the new Rabbit Electra Wine Tool Kit. Who knew opening a bottle of wine was such a hardware-intensive task? But you’ve got to get the bottle open in order to get at the cork, no? And if you’ve never managed to master the simple waiter’s corkscrew, this site has all sorts of wine opening aids for the fumble fingered.
