Tam O’Shanter, the more-than-90-year-old Los Angeles restaurant known for its prime rib, Yorkshire pudding and Great Wall of Scotch, is hosting a five-course Scotch dinner Wednesday.

The Scottish-themed restaurant, which recently underwent a few updates (the logo reclaims the lightning bolt, a reference to Tam O’Shanter’s eponymous Robert Burns poem, and the servers wear new tartan uniforms), is part of the Lawry’s family of restaurants and is one of the oldest restaurants in L.A. -- maybe the oldest owned by the same family in the same location.

The recent redesign also includes the Great Wall of Scotch, with an immense display of more than 102 single malts and blends from distilleries around the world.

The midwinter Scotch dinner will include five single malt Scotch pairings selected by executive chef Mark Kalenderian and in-house whiskey expert John Maraffi. Here’s what’s on the menu: Glenmorangie Nectar D’Or, aged in Sauternes casks, with Malpeque and kumamoto oysters, spiced mignonette and sweet pickled shallot; Arran Malt Port Cask Finish, aged in oak and finished in Port wine barrels, with cedar-planked wild salmon, dill potato gratin and Port reduction; Springbank 9-year-old Gaja Barolo, aged in bourbon barrels and finished in Barolo wine barrels, with forfar bridie, a traditional Scottish meat pie; Kilkerran Sherry, matured in sherry casks, with house-made candy bar with almond butter, chocolate wafers and ginger mango coulis; and the namesake Cutty Sark Tam O’Shanter 25-Year with with assorted cheese and charcuterie.

The dinner takes place at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday and costs $80 per person. Reservations can be made by calling the restaurant.
