A sleek wine sleeve to keep cold wines cold for hours
OK, here’s a new one for your vocabulary: wine sleeve. As in the OXO Steel Wine Sleeve for keeping an already chilled bottle of wine cool.
The brushed stainless steel wine sleeve is simple and sleek, and its double-walled construction does the trick in holding that wine at the same temperature for an hour or two. A soft internal “moat” catches any drips.
If you keep a wine on ice, it will get colder and colder. It’s all too easy to lose track and find that you’ve gone overboard with the chilling. With this gizmo, the bottle can go straight from the fridge onto the table. The wine bucket and all its attendant fuss is eliminated.
On these warm summer nights, the wine sleeve has worked well. My outdoor table is rustic, to say the least. But if you set this down on something more refined, not to worry: The bottom is non-slip and won’t mar or scratch the table.
You can find it in stores and online for $25. Pay attention, though: There’s also a bulbous OXO Good Grips version that’s much less attractive. Stick with this one.
