The New School of Cooking, which recently added advanced culinary and pastry programs, also introduces guest instructor classes for the fall. On the roster are classes such as artisan jam making with Sqirl’s Jessica Koslow, “Chef’s Table dinners” with Ari Taymor of Alma and Tin Vuong of Abigail, Little Sister and Wildflour Pizza, and a food photography course with the LA Weekly’s Anne Fishbein.

The food photography course will be held Sundays for four weeks beginning Oct. 6, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., and costs $500. And the one-day course with Koslow on Saturday, Nov. 9, which focuses on local fall fruit and vegetables and includes equipment and a light lunch, costs $110.

Taymor, chef-owner of downtown’s Alma restaurant, will prepare a $125 four-course dinner on Sunday, Oct. 20., in the New School’s open kitchen. Beverage pairings are included, and all proceeds will be donated to the restaurant’s new rooftop urban garden.

A chef-author dinner with Anne Willan and Amy Friedman, cooked by Alain Giraud of Maison Giraud, takes place Friday, Oct. 11. Willan will sign copies of her books, “One Souffle at a Time: A Memoir of Food and France,” and Giraud’s dinner will accompany a discussion with Willan and co-author Friedman. It also costs $125.

For more chef’s dinners and fall classes such as autumn pies, quick breads and fall soups, holiday entertaining, Thanksgiving and holiday tamales, visit the school’s website.
