Find that winery: Santa Barbara Vintners releases new viticultural maps
Confused about the boundaries of Santa Rita Hills or Happy Canyon? Or wondering how the new AVA Ballard Canyon fits into the picture? Santa Barbara Vintners has something that will help.
The nonprofit winery association has just released six new 2014 Santa Barbara County viticultural maps. Each map of Santa Barbara’s AVAs (American Viticultural Area) shows the borders of the region and where each vineyard is located — great for settling late-night wine trivia arguments or planning a wine country itinerary.
And just so you can get an overview, there’s also a Santa Barbara County map. All are suitable for framing.
Each viticultural map — Santa Maria Valley, Santa Ynez Valley, Santa Rita Hills, Ballard Canyon, Happy Canyon and Santa Barbara County — is $20, plus tax and shipping and handling. Buy two or more and get 25% off by using the coupon code “discount25” at checkout.
To order, go to www.sbcountywines.com or call (805) 688-0881.
The website also has more information about the winegrowing areas of Santa Barbara County. The Vintners Assn. has also put out a smartphone app called “Wine Country on the Go,” available in both iPhone and Android versions. Add in a map or two and you’re good to go.
