In the results of a Planet Money study of pizza prices across neighborhoods in five U.S. cities, Echo Park had the most expensive pizza in Los Angeles.

The study compared the median price of all cheese pizzas in data provided by Grubhub Seamless. The neighborhoods studied were in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.

The median price of a cheese pizza in Echo Park was $18, comparable to the East Village in New York (funny, there are Two Boots pizzerias in both neighborhoods).

The top five most expensive pizza neighborhoods in L.A., where prices were $16 to $18, were: Echo Park, Koreatown, Long Beach, West L.A. and West Hollywood.

The least expensive pizza, with a median price of $9 for a cheese pizza, was in Tarzana. And the five neighborhoods where pizza was least expensive, between $9 and $10, included: Tarzana, Picfair Village, Rancho Park, Mar Vista and Alsace.

The most expensive pizza neighborhood in the study across all five cities was New York’s Midtown, where the price of a cheese pizza was $23.
