Deepak Chopra -- holistic health guru, best-selling author and founder of the Chopra Center in Carlsbad, Calif. -- will be signing books at Lyfe Kitchen (where all menu items have fewer than 600 calories and 1,000 mg of sodium) in Culver City on Monday. Chopra is promoting his latest book (his 60th, or something like that?), “What Are You Hungry For?: The Chopra Solution to Permanent Weight Loss, Well-Being, and Lightness of Soul.” 7:30 p.m. 9540 W. Washington Blvd., Culver City, (310) 507-7955, www.lyfekitchen.com.
A holiday tradition, the Santa Monica Pub Crawl (emphasis on “Santa”) takes place on Saturday, with 30 bars and restaurants on the Pier, Promenade, Main Street and Wilshire Boulevard offering food and drink specials for thousands of crawlers dressed in holiday gear. Proceeds benefit the Westside Food Bank; last year, more than 5,000 people attended, raising enough food for 120,000 meals. This year’s participants include: Circle Bar, O’Brien’s on Main, Rick’s Tavern, Border Grill Food Truck, Finn McCool’s, Rusty’s Surf Ranch, Pizza Antica, Ye Olde King’s Head and Stout Burgers and Beers. Tickets are $10 for the official pub crawl wristband and are available at www.santamonicapubcrawl.com. Also, the Big Blue Bus will be selling unlimited bus passes for $4 on the pub crawl website, and Santa Monica Free Ride vehicles will be giving free rides along each route. Crawlers can download the official “SM Pub Crawl” app for a complete list of bars, routes, specials, map, bus stops and updates.
