This cookie ice cream sandwich food truck is everything

When the Paradise truck is parked in the middle of a food truck traffic jam in a downtown parking lot during art walk, just follow the scent of freshly-baked cookies to find it. Yes, the truck is actually baking cookies on site.

The bright red truck is the mobile outlet of the Paradise fine cookies and ice cream storefront in the Westfield Culver City, and it’s serving warm, chewy cookie ice cream sandwiches and ice cream cones.

If you have to spend 18 minutes in line to get your hands on a sandwich, you’ll gladly do so.

Ordering from the truck is a lot like visiting your favorite bakery. The cookies are displayed on baking sheets, and you can get an eyeful of the goods before making a decision.

Build your own ice cream cookie sandwich, or go for the double decker, otherwise known as an ice cream sandwich on steroids. It comes with three cookies, two scoops of ice cream, chocolate or caramel sauce, sprinkles, nuts, whipped cream and a cherry on top.

Cookie availability varies, but on a recent evening, there were red velvet, chocolate chip walnut, Oreo (chunks of Oreos inside a cookie), white chocolate and more.

The cookies can be ordered by the dozen and half-dozen, and if you’re in the mood for brownies, or say a root beer float, the truck is making those too.

Pro tip: Ordering a sandwich with Oreo cookies and salted caramel ice cream is a very good idea

You can find the Paradise truck schedule online.
