New vintage of Brangelina’s rose arrives soon; it’s not another crappy celebrity wine
If you’re one of the impatient ones, and have to have a bottle of Brangelina’s latest rosé from Provence right now, you’ll have to jet over to London or France. That’s right. The first bottles of 2013 Château Miraval Côtes de Provence rosé will be sold first in France and England.
There’s been a waiting list for the wine since last year and the people on it were notified by email that they could sign on Thursday and buy one case of six bottles each. Just in time for Valentine’s Day. Go to the website and you’ll be informed very politely, in French, that the reservation list for the first bottles of the 2013 vintage is now closed.
For the rest of us, the wine goes on sale in two weeks.

The first release of the rosé from their summer residence and wine estate in southeast France, made with the Perrin family of the renowned Châteauneuf-du-Pape estate Château de Beaucastel and the Central Coast property Tablas Creek Vineyard, sold out quickly. And it wasn’t just another crappy celebrity wine, but a serious rosé which was rated No. 84 in Wine Spectator’s list of the top 100 wines of 2013, the only rosé to make the list. Not bad for their first vintage, which sold for $18 to $22 in L.A.
The British wine magazine Decanter describes the 2013 as having “a sense of power alongside the elegance, a structure and a fresh acidity that gives the wine persistency, with a grip of minerality that gives a delicious mouthwatering finish.” 91 points.
The rosé project has gone so well, Jane Anson, writing for Decanter, reports that the movie star duo has signed up the Perrins to make a red wine “in the style of Italy’s Super Tuscans.” Not so fast. They have to plant the vines first and before they do any extensive planting, according to Marc Perrin, they’ll need to “experiment with different grape varieties, from Syrah and Mourvèdre to Cabernet Franc and others.”
Meanwhile, look for the 2013 Château Miraval at all the usual places. Last year you could find it at Du Vin in West Hollywood, Green Jug in Woodland Hills, Hi-Time Cellars in Costa Mesa, K & L Wine Merchants in Hollywood, Lincoln Fine Wines in Venice, Wally’s and Wine House in West Los Angeles and at Woodland Hills Wine Co. in Woodland Hills.
