Argentina-inspired Cordoba to open in Los Feliz; Farmshop’s Joshua Drew is chef
Cordoba, an Argentine-inspired restaurant from the hospitality group Cardiff Giant, is expected to open in Los Feliz this fall, with Joshua Drew as executive chef and partner.
Drew, who is executive chef at Jeff Cerciello’s Farmshop through the end of the month, also has worked with chefs such as Thomas Keller and Michael Tusk. Drew received a 2012 James Beard Award nomination for “Rising Star Chef” and was named on Zagat’s list of “30 Under 30” in Los Angeles.
Drew says he aims to draw from Argentine culture while also taking advantage of Southern California’s produce. The name, which is a city in the center of Argentina northwest of Buenos Aires, “evokes that sort of link, as well as honors the influences we hope to pay homage to,” Drew said in a statement.
The 3,000-square-foot restaurant will be designed by Sam Marshall of Marshall Projects (who also worked on Gjelina in Venice and Laurel Hardware in West Hollywood) and will feature natural wood accents, South American ceramics and a traditional Argentine grill as the focal point.
Cordoba will be one of the latest restaurants from Cardiff Giant, led by Beau Laughlin, whose projects include the Churchill, Clover Juice, the Hudson and DBA. The restaurant will be located on Vermont Avenue, next to Skylight Books and Los Feliz 3 Cinemas.
[Updated at 3:52 p.m.: An earlier version of this post stated that the restaurant was located across the street from Los Angeles City College.]
