If you’ve been longing to try some luxury beauty products but were put off by the price tag, now might be the time to fill your makeup bag.

Nordstrom’s 2013 beauty anniversary event got underway on Wednesday, offering more than 100 fragrance, cosmetic, skin care and men’s grooming products, exclusive and limited-edition items, at favorable prices.

Consider, for instance, Kiehl’s Creme de Corps Value set, worth $107, marked $75. Or a La Prairie Age Defense Set, a $403 value, priced at $280 and an exclusive-to-Nordstrom Jimmie Choo Flash eau de parfum set for $98. Other premium brands include Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown, Chanel, Dior, Kate Somerville, Philosophy and many more.

To celebrate its 40th anniversary, Canada-based Roots -- which is known for its leather goods, apparel and home furnishings -- is reissuing the Negative Heel Shoe that launched the company in 1973. The shoes got off to a good start, with Elton John and Paul McCartney among wearers who helped popularize them, but they haven’t been produced in the last 25 years, a spokesman says. The shoes, priced at $158 a pair, will be available for a limited time beginning Friday at Roots’ Beverly Hills store, 371 N. Beverly Drive.

Openings

Victoria’s Secret is scheduled to open a Pink store at 10 a.m. Saturday at Westfield Culver City, 6000 Sepulveda Blvd. This is one of several stores slated to open this year that will carry items only from the Pink line.

Fashions, accessories and housewares by Los Angeles designer Christina Kim of eco-chic line Dosa are being featured in a pop-up shop at the Santa Monica Museum of Art in conjunction with the art installation “Exploring Joshua Tree.” Both open with a reception from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and are scheduled to run through Aug. 17. This is the second collaboration between the museum and Dosa, following a partnership our Booth Moore wrote about last summer. The museum is at Bergamot Station, Building G1, 2525 Michigan Ave., Santa Monica.
