Renegade Craft Fair brings more handmade design to downtown L.A.
Walking the Renegade Craft Fair at the Los Angeles State Historic Park is a little like experiencing an alfresco Etsy convention. More than 200 independent designers take a break from their small online shops and set up booths where you can see their handmade wares in person.
The summer installment of Renegade at the L.A. park near Chinatown promises the usual design fodder -- original paintings and prints, wooden cutting boards, pottery, tea towels, jewelry, clothing and hand-screened pillows like the ones by Cotton & Flax above.
Even with summer heat and some familiar vendors, the outdoor event remains a favorite among fans of handmade design. Admission is free, pets are allowed, parking is easy and food trucks are nearby. Vendors will be complemented by hands-on sewing workshops and a visit from the Yarnover truck.
Hours are 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Los Angeles State Historic Park is at 1245 N. Spring St., Los Angeles.
