Paris Fashion Week 2013: Lanvin’s foxy, Far East fight club
PARIS -- A foxy, Far East fight club. That’s what came to mind when Alber Elbaz presented the Lanvin spring-summer 2013 runway show at Paris Fashion Week on Thursday night.
The look: Asian-inspired. Disco decadent. Tuxedos and tuxedo dresses with single sleeves. Skirts and pants with sash belts worn over sexy bathing suits. Slouchy pants and jacket covered in sequins the size of razor blades. Jewel tone satin cocktail dresses with sharp cuts, origami-like folds and hems, and silk knot or flat bow details at the sides. Killer sandals with low, mirrored block heels. And how can you resist a minaudiere bag shaped like a gold perfume flacon?
The scene: Festive. Waiters in bow ties as wide as Elbaz’s smile offered flutes of champagne and Laduree macarons in Lanvin-decorated boxes. (The designer collaborated with the famed French sweets shop on a limited edition box featuring his fashion sketches.) Kristin Scott Thomas was sitting in the front row, doing a little spring shopping perhaps.
The verdict: Tough girl glamour with a wink. Well done.
