Shop and party at Fashion’s Night Out on Thursday

It almost doesn’t matter where you live in Southern California, you’re not likely to be more than a freeway exit away from some kind of shopping mania on Thursday evening, the fourth annual observance of Fashion’s Night Out. Jumbo malls, retail districts and small boutiques alike are getting into the spirit of things, offering discounts, champagne, hors d’oeuvres, fashion shows, special merchandise, celebrity appearances and more.

We wrote about some of the events a couple of weeks ago -- from the main Los Angeles kickoff at the Beverly Center, to the David Meister fashion show emceed by Jillian Barberie-Reynolds at the Irvine Spectrum, to the after party in West Hollywood.

For a complete listing, check out the FNO website, where you can search by city, store name or event type.

To get in the spirit, take a look at the FNOLA video, starring quite a collection of L.A. fashion stars. (If you don’t recognize them all, there’s a cheat sheet at the end of this column.)

It should be a great night to shop -- and provide an economic stimulus for the fashion industry, which is the reason Vogue magazine invented this “shopoholiday” in the first place.
