Paris Fashion Week 2013: Stella McCartney eases into spring
PARIS -- Stella McCartney showed her spring-summer 2013 collection at the glorious rococo-style Opera Garnier on Monday morning during Paris Fashion Week. But the clothing on the runway couldn’t have been more different from the gilded environs.

The scene: Proud papa Paul McCartney was front row, as he always is, along with M.I.A., Jerry Seinfeld and Kate Moss.
The look: Masculine-meets-feminine sportswear. Down to earth but special. Graphic and sheer. Oversized. McCartney’s popular contour illusion dress reinterpreted for the spring season as a series of micro-plisse dresses and pencil skirts with sheer paneling and giant ellipses on the fronts. Oversized blouses and knits worn over slouchy trousers. Crisp white cotton pique wrap dresses with low belts. Tapered jackets hitting at the hips, paired with asymmetrical wrap front pencil skirts. Oversized eyelet shirt dresses or eyelet pants worn over shorts. Delicate floral garden party dresses with fluttering vertical pleats on the front. Palette of black, white, sunshine yellow, mint green and blue. Platform Lucite wedge sandals.
The verdict: Lots to wear. McCartney has a knack for adding her own kind of edge to everyday pieces.
