Peter Boyle’s widow to be honored Nov. 5 for a decade of cancer-fighting funny business

Broadway producer Loraine Alterman Boyle, wife of the late Peter Boyle, is set to be honored at a Nov. 5 comedy fundraiser in Los Angeles hosted by Ray Romano, with performances expected from the laugh-making likes of Kevin Nealon, Jeff Garlin, Dom Irerra and Fred Willard.

Now in its 10th year, the International Myeloma Foundation’s annual Comedy Celebration first unspooled at the Wilshire Ebell Theatre and Club in 2007, spearheaded by Loraine as a way to honor her late husband’s memory and raise funds to combat the bone marrow cancer that took his life in late 2006. To date, the event has raised more than $5 million, including some $600,000 from last year’s event alone, an evening of hilarity that included performances by comedian Tig Notaro and musical guest Paul Shaffer.

This year’s event hopes to add to that tally, thanks to sales of tickets — ranging from $50 for a seat in the balcony to $800 for a swanky pre-show cocktail party, silent auction, VIP seating and a Champagne reception — as well as the proceeds from the silent auction, which inevitably include things like sitcom set visits, autographed memorabilia and one-of-a-kind experiences donated by the Hollywood crowd.
